Brigitte Lahme is a professor of mathematics at Sonoma State University, where she has taught since 2002, serving as department chair from 2013 to 2019. She earned a doctorate in mathematics from Colorado State University in 1999.
Lahme’s scholarship is in mathematics education. Lahme was a writer for Illustrative Mathematics, which designs high-quality K–12 curriculum, and she is co-author of several college-level mathematics textbooks.
During Lahme’s time as chair, her department implemented a complete revision of the math placement system to ensure that incoming students are well supported to succeed in their required general education math courses. Most recently, the department has embarked on a project to create a path for STEM departments to become truly Hispanic serving; this work is supported by a National Science Foundation grant, for which Lahme is serving as principal investigator.
