Dave Kung has worked at the intersection of mathematics and equity for his entire career. He currently serves as the executive director of Transforming Post-Secondary Education in Mathematics. Previously, he served as the director of policy at the Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin, leading the Launch Years Initiative, which works with state teams to modernize math options for students from high school through postsecondary education. He has directed the Mathematical Association of America’s Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching), served as a professor at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, authored a variety of articles and books, produced two Great Courses lecture series, and won the Mathematical Association of America’s highest award for college math teaching. He resides in the Washington, D.C., area, where he coaches local high school teachers, plays violin, and runs—though never simultaneously.
