Pooja Gupta Sidney

Pooja Gupta Sidney is an associate professor in the psychology department at the University of Kentucky. There, she leads the Cognition & Development Lab, studying how children and adults think, learn, and solve problems in mathematics. On the cognitive side, her research focuses on using analogies, diagrams, and self-explanations as tools during mathematical instruction. On the motivational and affective side, her research examines the consequences of students’ mathematics anxiety, attitudes toward mathematics, and sense of belonging in mathematics, as well as how they might be improved. Sidney is also a co-organizer of the University of Kentucky Math Community and Ethics working group.
